Lance Kirley & Jacqueline Leighton

Hill-Ross Homestead’s current owners.

Our Story

Jacqueline Leighton and Lance Kirley both grew up in the Pioneer Valley and have always been drawn to the early american colonial era for many reasons but, primarily for the primitive architecture and it’s honest and earnest expression of detail and form . Purchasing Hill-Ross Homestead in 2016 was an opportunity they dreamed of. Finding a historic property in the heart of an area they loved was truly surprising and felt almost kismet.

Lance’s family owned an early 18th century property in Leverett, MA with a water powered sawmill and millwork facility specializing in hand crafted architectural products for colonial homes. Hill-Ross homestead would be an ideal location for the companies growing offices and workshop taking up tenancy in the property’s hay barn and stables. And, with the 1820’s farmhouse not 100 feet away, the commute was much more desirable .

Jacqueline has a background in customer service and hospitality management and saw the property as an ideal location for short term property rentals hoping to share one of Florence’s oldest homes and rich history with visitors to the area. Her modern farmhouse design is as much about restoring the buildings historic trim and proportions as it is about having all the comforts and conveniences of modern amenities.
